IoTSWC 2019, for which COFME has been ambassador, has shown in Barcelona last week a great variety of practical cases of application in the industry, and which are inspiring to define new lines of innovation.
Bringing together IoT suppliers with different industry sectors, IoTSWC 2019 has proposed solutions for increasing productivity, seeking to attract professionals with strategic decision making. The growth in the number of exhibitors compared to the 2018 edition is estimated at 15%, with Spain, the USA, China, France, Germany and the United Kingdom contributing the most.
IoT does not work without AI, which is hungry for data. According to Joe Barkai, president of the IoT program of SAE International, the world’s largest organization of automotive engineers, “the value of IoT is being able to aggregate different types of data to make better decisions”. IoT and AI generate value through Big Data as they help detect everyday problems and provide solutions. The conference concludes that data is the new oil: regardless of the technology, the knowledge generated from it and not just the connectivity, is the solution to the challenges of digital transformation in the industry.
The addition of the necessary HW and SW to the products manufactured by the companies of the group has been the main interest of the congress for COFME as it is the way to transform their solutions into “IoT-enabled”, optimizing the customer experience. On the other hand, manufacturing 4.0, strongly linked to the solutions shown in this edition of the IoTSWC 2019, is always a point of interest for manufacturers. Finally, innovative technologies such as Blockchain have shown applications to processes beyond the financial world for traceability and data security.
The COFME Group consists of eight Spanish leading manufacturers in the field of electrical equipment: CELO, DAISALUX, FERMAX, SACI, SALICRU, SODECA, SOFAMEL and SOLERA.
