SODECA protects health from radon in buildings

SODECA, COFME’s specialist in industrial ventilation, offers solutions to mitigate the presence of radon gas in buildings.

SODECA’s solutions are the best choice as a radon gas ventilation technique, reducing it as much as possible in the living space. They provide optimum efficiency and maximum flexibility to adapt to different scenarios: residential, tertiary or industrial sector.

Ventilation units with EC motorization guarantee maximum energy efficiency. Heat recovery units (e.g. SODECA’s Airhome model) are capable of filtering and renewing the air in indoor spaces and, in turn, of recovering part of the energy invested in heating and cooling operations, thus minimizing energy losses.

Radon is a source of naturally occurring radiation that can be harmful. It is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that emanates from granitic soils and sometimes from water and some building materials. It seeps through the soil and spreads into the air. Epidemiological studies confirm that its presence in homes increases the risk of lung cancer by up to 14%. Simple ventilation by opening windows is not enough to evacuate this gas from a living space, as it is a heavy gas that, without draft or overpressure, does not move. Therefore, an adequate ventilation system is required to prevent its concentration.
