SOLERA, COFME’s specialist in enclosures and mechanisms, has adapted its installations to Industry 4.0 by means of the digital transformation of its production plants and the philosophy of Lean Manufacturing management.
With the implementation of these projects, SOLERA has obtained the recognition to its Industrial Competitiveness Improvement Projects by the IVACE (Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness), within its innovation and SME digitalization programs.
The process began two years ago, with the implementation of the Lean Manufacturing philosophy (continuous improvement and waste-free production) in its two production plants and its regulatory warehouse. In parallel, this Lean system has been integrated with a M.E.S. (Manufacturing Execution System), increasing the competitiveness of the company through the improvement and digitalization of all its processes.
To take the step to Industry 4.0 by means of digital transformation, the company has installed PLCs in all its machines, as well as monitors and touch screens in its plants, connecting to the M.E.S. system its quality module, the ERP and the tools for production sequencing and comprehensive maintenance management.
The analysis of data, coming from these connected elements, has been a fundamental pillar in transforming SOLERA’s production centers into intelligent factories, where it is possible to follow up in real time the established indicators, improving the decision making process and its results. In addition to its commitment to the environment, SOLERA has managed to reduce the paper used in its centers by 80%.
The process has made SOLERA’s production and logistics centers more efficient, flexible and committed to their environment, prepared to effectively adapt to the demands of an increasingly demanding and globalized market.
